The Shadow Of The Night

I felt something I cannot explain.
Something different like from another plane.

The lights were out, but I could see.
Nothing was the same now, for I wasn’t me.

I walked towards you and laid by your side
You didn’t know me, wouldn’t even give me a ride

Lost my arms, and my opposable thumb
I have no words, no speech. And my skin feels numb.

In four legs I now walk, perfect balance on the edge
The night, the stars, the moon and I merge

My fur is black, I’m the shadow of the night
All alone walking my town, the tallest building’s my delight

To be less than than human, posses no threat to me
A simple animal is something I wouldn’t mind to be

Some call me the moon cat, some the black feline
Or just another lonesome animal stuck on the baseline
